But if you happened to make it through to Sunday without splashing the cash, you might find that you have close access to some top-notch women’s football in West Yorkshire.

You could see the Guiseley Vixens sublimely dispatch Rotherham United 7-2, stand in awe of Leeds Ladies’ 6-1 thrashing of South Park Rangers, or witness an exciting 2-1 win for Brighouse Town LFC as the three teams advance to the fourth qualifying round of the Women’s FA Cup.

High-scoring games like these have been the main benchmark of women’s football in West Yorkshire this season. Particularly with Guiseley Vixens, who so far have netted 24 goals in their first seven games; only two behind their tally from last season, which saw them relegated from the Northern Premier League.

New coaches Glen Preston and Kyle O’Reilly seem to have turned the tide, as the Vixens remain undefeated and only seem to be getting stronger.

Their cup result against Rotherham, despite it being their highest goals conceded, was just another reflection of the vast progress thay have made this season.

While Brighouse and Leeds have not been as prolific in the league, they will enjoy two mouth-watering ties in the next round, with Brighouse playing current relegation rivals Blackpool Wren Rovers and Leeds facing a tough battle against Yorkshire rivals and Division One title contenders Hull City, whose only loss this season was to, you guessed it, Guiseley Vixens.

They have a winnable fixture against Nettleham Ladies FC, as the prospect of clashing with powerhouses such as Manchester City, Chelsea and Arsenal Ladies lies just two wins away for the West Yorkshire trio.
