Non-League: Lions move clear of relegation danger zone

Guiseley produced a marvellous performance on the road as they moved eight points clear from the National League relegation places thanks to Saturday's 1-0 win at Woking.

The away side made the perfect start when Emile Sinclair worked his way into the area and unselfishly passed to Liam Dickinson, who was able to tap the ball into the empty goal.

Guiseley could have doubled their lead soon after when Rob Atkinson saw his header saved well by Woking goalkeeper Jake Cole. Sinclair, who is currently halfway through a one month loan from York, ripped the Woking defence apart with a solid run, but again the goalkeeper was in his way.

There was then a long delay in play when Woking’s Shaun Jeffers went down and had to be stretchered off the pitch.

Woking would end up having their best chance of the whole match in the seventh minute of added time when Giuseppe Sole turned and shot but Guiseley goalkeeper Steven Drench – who had a relatively quiet day – was there to make a fine save.

Guiseley were still able to create the better chances during the second half but were unable to get past Woking’s goalkeeper, who was having a good day.

Sinclair had the best chance of the remaining 45 minutes but his effort was scooped over the bar.
