They doubled it 12 minutes later when Adam Clayton conceded a penalty and Aaron Chambers made no mistake.

The Celts pulled one back through Nathan Turner’s shot from the edge of the box three minutes later, but they could not force the equaliser.

In Division 1 North, Tadcaster Albion also slipped to a knockout defeat at Bamber Bridge.

Taddy broke the deadlock on 61 minutes, when Billy Whitehurst crossed for Will Annan to head home but Danny Forbes levelled for the hosts (68).

Eleven minutes later Lewis Nightingale struck again for the home side and although Albion threw everything at Bridge they could not level.

Frickley Athletic also lost 2-1 in their quest to reach the First Division South final against visiting Stamford.

The Blues fell behind to Rob Morgan’s 21st-minute goal and things got worse 13 minutes later when Dan Burns handled in the area and Kieron Wells bagged the penalty.

Seven minutes into the second half, Wells was sent off for a foul on keeper Jake Turner, who eventually had to go off be replaced by John Stancliffe.

Jacob Hazell netted Frickley’s 95th-minute consolation, his 47th of the season and a club record.
