Non League – Farsley Celtic aiming to advance in FA Trophy

Have your say

FARSLEY CELTIC have the statistics in their favour as they target a place in the third qualifying round of the FA Trophy tomorrow which is just one round away from the first round proper.

The Celts welcome Carlton Town to Throstle Nest with Farsley flying high in fourth in the Evo-Stik League Premier Division on the back of last Saturday’s 3-1 success at home to leaders Scarborough Athletic.

Farsley are only seven points behind leaders Scarborough and also have a game in hand.

Carlton are 32 places lower down the non-league pyramid with Farsley’s visitors 14th in the Evo-Stik League East Division. Elsewhere in the second qualifying round of the FA Trophy, the boot is on the other foot for Ossett United who travel to higher division Lancaster City.

Lancaster are fourth-bottom in the Evo-Stik Premier, 14 places higher up the pyramid than Ossett who sit 11th in the Evo-Stik League East Division.

Pickering Town will also be looking for a welcome cup tonic when they travel to divisional rivals AFC Mansfield.

Pickering are third bottom in the division, one place behind tomorrow’s hosts who are ahead of them on goal difference. In the Evo-Stik League East Division, sixth-placed Tadcaster Albion travel to eighth-placed Belper Town with the two teams only separated by goal difference though the Brewers have a game in hand.

In the Premier Division, bottom side North Ferriby United entertain second-placed Nantwich Town.
