No dream start for Lockwood at Guiseley

The loss was the first for caretaker boss Adam Lockwood, with the ex-Doncaster Rovers and Oldham Athletic defender joined in the dugout by Richie Wellens, the former Blackpool midfielder who is helping as assistant.

In the club’s first game since the sacking of former boss Mark Bower, the Lions started brightly with Jordan Preston making effective runs for the home side and producing two efforts that were both blocked.

Bromley, though, created the first significant chance when Dan Johnson was found in the area from a corner and his header hit the post and after a goal-mouth scramble the ball was cleared.

Then, in first-half injury time, George Porter put a downward header towards the bottom left hand corner which was turned away by Guiseley keeper Dan Atkinson.

A half-time downpour led to a change of conditions for the second half and it was Bromley who coped best as Blair Turgott produced a quick run and cut inside before firing his effort into the top corner.

Moments later, Bromley were awarded a penalty when George Porter was fouled by Dan Atkinson who was booked, after which Louis Dennis powered home from 12 yards.

Alfie Pavey then fired a low drive against the post but Max Porter made it 3-0 soon after when racing in on goal and finishing past Atkinson.

Guiseley then hit the post twice through Ash Palmer and Adam Boyes before Adam Smith finally pulled one back but Bradley Goldberg scored in added time to bag Bromley their fourth.

Bottom of the table Guiseley are back in action tonight at leaders Tranmere Rovers.

North Ferriby United were felled 2-0 at Aldershot on Saturday and now sit fifth-bottom ahead of today’s hosting of tenth-placed Barrow.

In National League North, Harrogate Town continued their fine start with a 3-1 win at home to Nuneaton.

Jon-Paul Pittman gave Town an eighth-minute lead which was doubled by Joe Leesley 20 minutes later.

Joe Ironside then pulled a goal back for Nuneaton nine minutes after the break but Town’s Jordan Robertson hit back with a 72nd-minute penalty.

Town sit second ahead of today’s trip to FC Halifax Town who are fifth after losing 3-2 at leaders AFC Fylde on Saturday.

Bradford Park Avenue are fifth-bottom after being hammered 5-1 at Tamworth, with a Michael Monaghan strike in vain for the visitors.

Avenue host leaders Fylde today.

FARSLEY CELTIC made it a perfect three wins from three games in the Evo-Stik League’s First Division North with Saturday’s 1-0 success at home to Kendal Town.

Richard Marshall bagged the only goal of the game two minutes after the hour mark to put the Celts two points clear of second-placed Droylsden and three clear of third-placed Hyde United.

Farsley are already the division’s only side with an unbeaten record.

Tadcaster Albion bagged their second win from three games with a 1-0 verdict at Mossley.

Thomas Corner struck the winner three minutes before half-time.

Ossett Town also have six points out of a possible nine after a 3-2 triumph at Trafford.

Danny Frost notched a brace including a penalty, with Tyrone Gay also on target.

Town were 1-0 down at half-time but came storming back in the second-half.

Brighouse Town are also on six points after beating visiting Clitheroe 2-1 thanks to late goals from Luke Parkin and James Pollard. Brighouse trailed 1-0 at the break. Ossett Albion have just one point and are second bottom after being chinned 4-1 by visiting Bamber Bridge. Danny South’s goal was in vain for the hosts.

Goole AFC are pointless and bottom after being blitzed 4-0 by Hyde United while Scarborough Athletic bagged their first win as Paul Beesley’s strike sealed a 1-0 verdict at home to Colwyn Bay.

Frickley Athletic have now lost five games out of five in the Premier Division and sit bottom after Saturday’s 4-0 loss at home to Mickleover Sports.

Sixth-placed Whitby Town salvaged a 1-1 draw at Hednesford Town thanks to Jamie Pool’s late equaliser.

HEMSWORTH MINERS WELFARE continued their fine start to the new NCE League Premier Division season with Saturday’s 5-3 success at Clipstone.

Bill Law fired Hemsworth in front inside the first minute and further away strikes followed from Luke Danville and Dominique Blair before Nicholas Guest bagged a second half brace.

Hemsworth are one of four sides joint-top on ten points, though only the Miners and leaders Cleethorpes Town have played four games.

Third-placed Liversedge have ten points from five games after Saturday’s 2-1 win at home to Rainworth Miners Welfare in which Harrison Blakey hit an 81st-minute winner. Vaughan Redford had earlier given Liversedge a tenth-minute lead.

Fourth-placed Thackley also have ten points from five games after Daniel Clayton’s penalty sealed a 1-0 win at Bottesford Town who previously had a 100 per cent record. Albion Sports now have the division’s only perfect record having won three from three.

Pickering Town bagged their second win from three games as goals from Russell Parker and Nicholas Thompson sealed a 2-1 triumph at Parkgate.

Harrogate Railway are sixth-bottom after a 2-0 loss at home to Staveley Miners Welfare while 11th-placed Garforth Town were felled 4-0 at Cleethorpes Town.

Bridlington Town bagged their first win as Joel Sutton hit a hat-trick in a 4-3 success at Handsworth Parramore.

Eccleshill United made it four wins out of four in Division One with a 4-3 triumph at home to Brigg Town.

Luke Harrop’s home double was supported by strikes from Marcus Edwards and Andrew Cooper.

Glasshoughton Welfare are fifth after a 5-1 win at home to Yorkshire Amateur whose Adam Shaw hit a late consolation.

Nathan Keightley hit a double for Glasshoughton who also struck through Jermaine Moyce, Callum Harrison and Conor Glavin.

Mid-table sides Selby Town and visiting Knaresborough Town shared a goalless draw while a Jacob Mason strike and Joel Dixon spot kick were in vain for Nostell Miners Welfare who were hammered 6-2 by visiting Teversal.
