Women’s Football: Leeds book their place in cup final

Leeds Ladies secured their place in the West Riding County Cup final with Wednesday’s 1-0 victory over Brighouse Town, writes DAISY YOUNG.

Demi Pringle’s second-half strike clinched victory for Leeds who will now face either Bradford City or Guiseley AFC Vixens in the final.

Four days later, Leeds fell to a disappointing 4-1 defeat at struggling Tranmere Rovers in the FA Women’s Premier League Northern Division One.

Guiseley Vixens suffered a 5-1 defeat at home to second-placed Stoke City, to remain bottom in the Northern Premier.

Brighouse Town bounced back from their heart-breaking semi-final cup defeat to thrash hosts Scunthorpe 7-0 in move nine points clear at the top of the North East Regional Womens Football League Premier. Jodie Redgrave bagged an impressive four goals, whilst Rachael White netted a brace and Annabelle Cass added a further goal.

Second-bottom Wakefield lost 3-1 at Boldon Ladies while in the Southern Division, Ossett Albion Ladies shared a 2-2 draw with visiting Malet Lambert Ladies.

Elsewhere, Tingley Athletic Firsts moved top of the West Riding Premier Division with a 5-3 victory over title rivals Ossett Town Ladies.

Brayton Belles are through to the semi-final of the West Riding League Shield after a comfortable 3-0 triumph over Bradford Park Avenue.

Battyeford Belles Firsts moved eight points clear at the top of Division One after their 5-1 victory over Bradford City A while Wetherby Athletic Reserves moved off the bottom of the table with a 4-2 success over Republica Internationale.
