West Riding County Amateur: Four-star Moyce fires lowly City off foot of table

There was just one game in the Premier Division last weekend, as Wakefield City moved off the bottom of the table with a 5-2 victory over Thornton United.

Jermaine Moyce was the star of the show finding the back of the net on four occasions, with Nash Connolly also on target for the hosts. Wakefield leapfrogged Britannia Sports and DRAM Community FC with their third win of the season, whilst Thornton remained in eighth, five points ahead of Wakefield having played three games more.

In Division One, Golcar United closed the gap on leaders Ovenden West Riding to seven points with a 5-1 victory over TVR United. TVR United remain fifth, with their eighth loss in their 14 league games this season.

Steeton Reserves moved up to third with a 10-0 demolition of bottom side Bradford FC. Nicholas McNally was on fire, bagging five goals, with Andrew Howland also finding the net twice. Joseph Flaherty, Mark Magee and Greig Hudson added to the score line. Bradford have won just one game all season and are eight points adrift at the bottom of the table having played three games more than their nearest competitors Tingley Athletic.

This weekend will see the Premier’s second-placed side Route One Rovers hist fourth-bottom Lepton Highlanders while leaders Salts are on Bradord FA Cup duty. Third-bottom Wakefield City host bottom club Brittania Sports.
