Crown Gawthorpe put a stop to Beechwood Gate’s 100 per cent record in a stunning 5-3 victory.
The leaders of the Wakefield Saturday League, Beechwood, suffered their first loss of the season at the weekend thanks to familiar foes Gawthorpe.

The result means Gawthorpe are now just three points off the leaders with a game in hand.
“We want to try and win the league or be right up there; we try to win something every year,” said Gawthorpe’s Neil Pickles.
“We’ve started the season well, we have a few new players but we’ve had some injuries. You can only afford to lose a couple of games all season (Beechwood) Gate don’t usually slip up that much so we need to try and win every game.”
