Have your say

SERGIO Aguero had the pro football world in awe with a brilliant five-timer in Saturday’s thrashing of Newcastle United.

Yet sharpshooters Eli Hey and Irfan Ali doubled even Aguero’s achievements by netting an amazing 10 goals each in their weekend wins.

We thought there’d be some big scores at the weekend considering it brought about the first round of the County Cup matches in which Halton Moor battered FC Smawthorne 27-1 back in 2013.

But even in that landslide no player managed a 10-goal haul with both Steven Copley and Micky Helson bagging nine each – a hat-trick of tricks.

Amazingly, both Hey and Ali went one step further at the weekend with Ali’s haul actually coming in a league match as Snowdon FC clobbered basement boys Shire FC 16-0 in Division Two of the Heavy Woollen League.

Hey, meanwhile, crashed in double figures as his Halifax Irish side annihilated visiting Hunsworth 18-1 in the first round of the County Challenge Trophy.

There were other double digit wins in the competition with Leeds City 11-2 victors at Wibsey while in the County Trophy Uppermill walloped visiting Sutton 16-0.

We don’t have the Uppermill scorers and it’s the same with the games in which Bingley were also 12-0 winners at Myrtle Park in the County Sunday Cup and with three double-figure scores in the County Sunday Trophy – Shepherds Arms smashing Cookridge Hall 10-2 with Waiters Arms 14-2 victors at Prospect Reserves and Elford blitzed 12-3 at Gaping Goose.

An egg-cellent result for the hosts.

And perhaps there were 10-goal hauls in those games too – get in touch if so – but I doubt it, or we’d probably know.

As it stands, City can applaud Mr Aguero but here in Goals we’ll bow down to Irfan Ali and Eli Hey.
