Sunday round-up: Hunslet Club edge out Corpus Christi in penalty shootout

HUNSLET Club squeezed into the West Riding FA County Sunday Trophy fourth round by edging a penalty shoot out at home to Leeds Combination League Division Two rivals FC Corpus Christi.

Divisional leaders Hunslet were held to a 3-3 draw before progressing 5-4 on penalties.

East End Park WMC recorded a 3-0 win at home to Old Bank WMC in the fourth round while AFC Leodis beat visiting AFC Cutsyke 4-1.

Ossett Central won 2-0 at home to Salts Reserves while Deighton WMC Reserves progressed past visiting AFC Mill Lane with a 4-3 on spot kicks after a 3-3 draw.

In the County Sunday Cup, Ferrybridge Progressive eased through the fourth round with a 4-1 success at home to Keighley Athletic. But JB Celtic suffered a 1-1 reverse at home to Woodman Sports Club while Fryston AFC were seen off 5-2 at Crossflatts Village. Ventus United edged a 3-2 verdict at home to Malt Shovel (Selby).

FC Sporting Pudsey moved eighth in Division One of the Leeds Combination by walloping bottom-club visitors, Horsforth Saints, 6-1. In Division 3B, Amaranth Athletic rose to eighth as second-placed Sporting Pudsey Reserves lost 5-2 on their travels. Jack Harris notched a brace for Amaranth for whom Sheridan Linley, Charlie Wilson-Davies and Jonathan Wright also struck.

In the Wakefield Sunday League, Horse & Jockey moved top of Premiership Two with a 4-3 win at home to seventh-placed Wakefield Football Centre while Rock Inn went tenth with a 4-2 success at third-placed Boons. AFC Ackworth moved four points clear in Championship One with a 6-2 beating of eighth-placed visitors Viaduct while Wrenthorpe Rangers Reserves went ninth by hammering second-bottom visitors Horbury Slazengers 7-1. Fifth-placed hosts Railway Inn shared a 3-3 draw with fourth-placed Nostell Miners Welfare Reserves.

Wharfedale Triangle leaders Keighley Town had a 4-0 win at seventh-placed Cullingworth Youth while third-placed Shipley Town saw off fifth-placed visitors Burton Leonard 4-0. Ilkley Dynamo went fourth with a 2-1 triumph at home to sixth-placed Hampsthwaite United. There were no games in the Heavy Woollen League.
