Sunday Cups: Poker-faced Palfrey plays nap hand in HT's rout

HT SPORTS stormed into the semi-finals of the West Riding County FA Sunday Cup semi-finals as Steve Palfrey struck a nap hand in a 9-1 cruise at Ventus United.

Palfrey’s five-star offering was backed up by a brace from Barrie Frankland plus goals from Jason Davis and Lee Turner as HT booked a semi-final against either Crossflatts Village or Woodman Sports Club.

HT’s Leeds Combination League rivals Hope Inn Whites saw their 2018 dream ended as they suffered a 4-1 loss at Ferrybridge Progressive.

In a delayed fourth-round tie, Colton’s adventure was also ended as they suffered a 3-1 loss at home to Olympic.

Ashley Bell was the solitary scorer for the hosts but Olympic will now entertain Lee Mount in a delayed quarter-final this weekend.

The winners will play Ferrybridge in the second semi-final.

In the West Riding FA County Sunday Trophy, Ossett Central were knocked out at the quarter-finals stage through a 5-1 loss at Canal Tavern.

They will play either AFC Mill Lane or FC Queensbury in their semi-final.

AFC Leodis are still waiting to discover who they will travel to in the quarter-finals with the Leeds side set to visit either New Pudsey or FC Corpus Christi who will play their delayed last-16 tie this weekend.

East End Park WMC will go to Hounds FC in the other quarter-final this weekend.
