West Yorkshire League title challengers Carlton took on Yorkshire Amateur League outfit Leeds Medics & Dentists in last Tuesday night’s final held at Farsley Celtic and raced to a 5-0 victory. Scott Hargreaves bagged a brace for Carlton with Reece Fennell, Anees Younis and Joel Hughes all adding a goal apiece.

The success came just four days after Carlton had booked their place in the West Riding FA County Challenge Cup final with a 2-0 triumph against fellow West Yorkshire League side Rawdon Old Boys.

Carlton will face Yorkshire Amateur League side Alwoodley in the final after they edged a memorable 4-3 success against Ilkley Town in last Wednesday night’s second semi-final at Fleet Lane. Ilkley raced into a 2-0 lead but Alwoodley came roaring back through a brace from Callum Armstrong, plus strikes from Jimmy Willmoth and Dan Ashton. A Matt Whitehead double and Tim Edney strike proved in vain for Ilkley as Alwoodley booked their place in the final on Wednesday, May 16.

On the Sunday football front, the final of the Leeds FA’s flagship Sunday Senior Cup will take place at Elland Road next Wednesday evening as Hope Inn Whites take on Whitkirk Wanderers. HT Sports will then take on Olympic in the final of the West Riding FA County Sunday Cup on Friday, May 18 at Woodlesford.

Hounds will play Canal Tavern in the final of the West Riding FA County Sunday Trophy this Friday evening, also at Woodlesford. A Leeds FA Trophy is already in the cabinet at The Woodcock who held their nerve to lift the Sunday Jubilee Cup, causing heartache for New Moorside. After a goalless draw, The Woodcock edged the penalty shoot out 4-2.
