nick sutcliffe struck twice as reigning top-flight champions Commercial HQ cashed in on the first action of the league season, recording an emphatic 7-0 home success over Northern Star.

It was one-way traffic at Holbeck Moor, with Sutcliffe leading the way on the goalscoring front in what proved to be a thoroughly one-sided Alliance Premier Division clash.

Commercial fired out a warning to the rest of the division on Sunday, with five different marksmen finding the back of the net.

Also on the scoresheet for Commercial, who saw their colours lowered in the league just once in 12 matches last season, were Jonathan Weston, Michael Hartley, Matty Simon, Chris Jones and Luke Jubb.

Four other games took place on Sunday, with the league consisting of just one division in 2014-15.

Another side who much is expected from are Torpedo Woodhall after the Pudsey-based outfit finished second behind Commercial last term.

Woodhall did not quite hit the goalscoring heights of the title-holders, but can reflect on a three-point haul all the same as they turned over visiting Moortown Albion to record a winning start to the maiden league campaign. Meanwhile, Halfway House Bramley equalled the feats of Commercial HQ in hitting a magnificent seven goals without reply in a relentless 7-0 home drubbing over Seacroft Colts Stallions.

The hosts triumphed at a canter at Stanningley Park.

Garforth-based Gascoigne FC, who finished fourth last term, also started the season in a winning vein, helping themselves to the spoils in a 4-2 away-day success against hosts Seacroft Colts.

In the division’s only other game, there was no definite result for one side with the spoils shared in a 1-1 draw between Republica International and away side Temple in their clash at Potternewton Lane.

This coming Sunday, Commercial welcome Seacroft Colts and last weekend’s other big winners, Halfway House Bramley visit Leeds YMCA in the cup.
