THE Leeds Red Triangle League looks set to fold after nearly a century’s existence on the Saturday grassroots football front.

The league operated just one division last season – the Hainsworth Premier – but only four of the eight teams that completed the season have declared an intention to continue.

Secretary Stan Newton said: “It looks like the end of the road for the Leeds Red Triangle League. We have four teams for next season and if we cannot recruit six more teams before our AGM on Monday, June 30 we will not be running a league for the 2014-15 season. It is sad that after being formed in 1920 the league will no longer survive.”
