Junior Football: Title-chasing Hunslet Club hit rivals Wrenthorpe for six

TITLE-chasing Hunslet Club Juniors Under-16s marched on with a 6-1 success at Wrenthorpe Rangers Under-16s in Division One of the Garforth League.

Hunslet settled early in foggy conditions and took the lead when Joe Packer headed home a Jamal Ali cross. A second goal soon followed for Reece Walker with Packer then doubling his tally before Wrenthorpe pulled a goal back. But a second strike from Walker and a fine individual goal from man of the match Joe Wood made it 5-1 at the interval with Liam Wilson then bagging the only goal of the second half.

Kirkstall Crusaders Whites Under-18s got back to winning ways with a 7-0 thrashing of visiting Garforth Rangers Under-18s in Division 1A and 1B of the Garforth League. A hat-trick for man of the match Kyle Wilcock plus goals from captain Liam Marshall, Rexhep Ejupi, Dylan Fernandez and Cameron Frew proved the difference. Kirkstall’s Sam Williamson, Adam Morris and Emanuel Agunsoye all shone on debut.

Hall Green United Under-16s progressed to the third round of the Sheffield & Hallamshire County Cup by scraping a last-gasp 6-5 victory at Edlington Under-16s. Green led 3-2 at the interval through a James Smith brace and Adam Margison strike and looked to have sealed straight-forward progression when Ewan Scott added his side’s fourth before Smith completed his hat-trick. Edlington then pulled three goals back to make it 5-5 just before full-time, only for Scott to convert his second.

Churwell Lions Under-14s went top of Division Two of the Garforth League with a 6-1 success at home to Garforth Rangers Under-14s. Churwell’s Ellis Hartley, Tom Davidson and Harrison Lott all bagged braces with Chris Blakeney taking the Lions man of the match award.

In Division Three, Kirkstall Crusaders Whites Under-14s enjoyed a 3-2 success at Amaranth Juniors Under-14s. A 30-yard winder goal from Blake Berkeley and a Barney Mguni solo won the game for Kirkstall who were indebted to man of the match goalkeeper Travis Byrne.

In Division Four, Beeston Juniors Under-14s came from two goals down to rescue a point in a thrilling 3-3 draw with Stanningley Albion Under-14s. Beeston’s goals came from Lewis Auty, man of the match Ellis Daniels and a last minute penalty from Reece Camblin.

Drighlington Under-13s A and B both won again to stay joint top of Divisions One and Two in the Huddersfield League respectively. Drig A won 5-3 at Queensbury Under-13s with Ross McHale grabbing a fine hat trick and Joe Booth and Kyle Murtagh scoring one each. Liam O’Malley saved a penalty while the scores were level while Booth shared the player of the match award with Pete Gallagher. Drig B had an excellent 8-1 win at YMCA Bears Under-13s. Tom Solomons and Harrison Smith both grabbed braces while Harry Sharp, Joe Clarke, Noah Cage and Travis Wardman all scored. Solomons and Smith shared the Drig player of the match award.

Colton Juniors Under-13s kick-started their season with a 7-1 success at Kippax Athletic Under-13s in Division Two of the Garforth League. Colton bagged their first win of the campaign thanks to Sam Green hat-trick and a Ben Parker brace plus efforts from Josh Ewart and a Liam Tindall penalty.

In Division Three, Churwell Lions Under-13s enjoyed an 8-2 romp at Wigton Moor Under-13s. A Josh Clark hat-trick and Brandon Salmon brace led the Wigton goal rush with the tally completed by Josh Sedgwick, Tyler Walker and a James Creek penalty.

Hall Green United Under-13s booked their place in the Sheffield & Hallamshire County Cup third round with a 6-3 victory at home to Balby Academy of Sport Under-13s. Max Fletcher’s four-timer proved the difference for Green whose Cameron Gill and captain Brandon Powell also netted. Aiden Teasdale took the Green player of the match award.

Hall Green United Under-12s stretched their winning run to five games out of five with a 5-2 triumph at home to Bradford Park Avenue Under-12s in Division 5B. Avenue went 1-0 and 2-1 up but Green had 23 shots on target with Alex Tunningley and Dalton Jackson both bagging braces to add to an Emily Sykes finish. Jackson also missed a penalty but took the player of the match award while Sykes and Joshua Topp provided valuable assists.

Middleton Park Under-12s stormed to a 13-4 win at home to Bramley Phoenix Hurricanes Under-12s in Division Five of the Garforth League. Mason Buttle led the way with a five-goal haul while man of the match Charlie Ingleson shone on his Middleton debut by netting a hat-trick. James Head and Jesse Haley also bagged braces while Reece Sidebottom added an individual stunner. At the other end, ‘keeper Lewis Gregg made one fantastic right hand diving save.

In Division Five, Kirkstall Crusaders Whites Under-12s soldiered to a 7-3 win at home to Amaranth Under-12s despite having only seven men playing against Amaranth’s nine. Four goals from Jesse Mboma, two from Adieb Elgallai and one from Callum Fletcher saw Kirkstall triumph, together with superb defending from Sam Williamson and Alex Barrow-Smith. Elliott Beaton made an impressive debut while Shaun Kane’s safe hands denied Amaranth.

Hall Green United Under-11s slipped to a 7-1 loss at Upperthong in Division 4B of the Huddersfield League. Roman Vintner netting his first Hall Green goal after being put through by Keaton Harrison and Marcus Barrett also went close to scoring but midfielder Amos Crowther took his side’s player of the match award.

Hall Green United Under-10s were chinned 1-0 by visiting Cumberworth A Under-10s in Division S despite a man of the match dispaly from Daniel Myers. Hall Green United Under-10s B fought back from being 2-0 down to draw 3-3 with Cumberworth B Under-11s in Division F. Green goals came from player of the match Harry Parmar, Harley Owen and Daniel Duffy.
