Birkenshaw increased their lead at the top of the Heavy Woollen Sunday League Premier Division with a 3-0 win against second-placed Millbridge WMC, writes Amitai Winehouse.

Goals for Stuart Kiltie, Andrew Wood and Tom Ormondroyd gave Birkenshaw the three points, allowing them to stretch their lead at the top of the table to 10 points.

Lowly AFC Chickenley pulled out a surprise 3-2 win against St John Fisher.

Tim Clarke scored a brace and Shaun McDaid added another to give Chickenley a vital win.

Heckmondwike Sports club are through to the final of the Challenge Trophy after edging out Mount Pleasant 2-1.

Blake Maude and Robin Knight scored for Heckmondwike, with Adam Ravat replying for Mount.

A 4-2 win for Battyeford against third placed FC Pack Horse put them five points clear at the top of the Championship.

Jonny Mitchell’s brace, plus goals from Richard Newman and Bobby Evans secured the win.

Northorpe United fell further behind in the race after they suffered a 4-3 defeat to Barr Street.

Daniel Stuart and Zak Waddington scored a goal apiece for Barr Street, with Luke Sansby adding a brace. Northorpe replied through Dean Rhodes, Jiten Patel and Tom Hague.

Gomersal drew 3-3 with Birstall St Patricks.

Andy Kaye hit two for Gomersal, with George Deegan also on target. Luke Newsome, Craig Metcalfe and Joe Ratcliffe scored for Birstall.

The struggling Taylor FC and Hartshead gained a point apiece from their clash, as the sides managed a 2-2 draw.

Yusuf Akudi hit both goals for Taylor, with Martin Ellis and Mark Palmer scoring a goal each for Hartshead in reply.

In Division One, Saville Arms moved to within three points of the promotion places with a 4-2 win over Batley Irish Nash.

Hat-trick hero Danny McKenzie and Chris Smith bagged for Saville, with Tom Yarnold and Gary Sheen scoring Nash’s two goals.

Ravenswharfe beat fellow strugglers Bay Horse East Ardsley 3-2.

Goals for Ravenswharfe came courtesy of Andrew Kenworthy and Josh Walton’s brace. Mark Johnson and Shaun Crofts scored for Bay Horse, who sit entrenched in the bottom two.

Woodkirk Valley climbed to top spot in Division Two after a sterling 7-0 win at Punch Bowl.

Daniel Barton led the way with a hat-trick, Matthew Moon hit a brace and Will Clapham and Chris McGuire added a goal each.

Black Horse climbed to third place in the league after a 1-1 draw with Scholes Athletic.

Scholes rescued a point through Dean Comins’s goal after Mark Wigley netted for Black Horse.

A windy game saw Overthorpe Sports Club Reserves beat St Ignatius 3-2.

Tim Crabb scored both of St Ignatius’s goals, but they were overwhelmed thanks to goals for Danny Fisher and Sean Hodgson, who fired home a double.

Danny Engledow’s lone strike gave Batley Celtics a 1-0 win against bottom side Snowdon, moving Batley five points clear of the drop zone.

Dewsbury Westside are five points clear at the top of Division Three after a 3-0 win at Gomersal West.

Fourth placed Cobras won 3-2 against bottom side Black Horse Reserves.

Goals from Matthew Jubb, Brandon Yates and Joshua Sheldrake gave Cobras the win, cancelling out Ryan McKeag and Dean Vernon’s goals for Black Horse.

Aimi Beresford bagged a decisive brace for Brighouse in the 3-2 win over Bolton Wanderers.
