WORTLEY were denied a place in the West Riding FA County Challenge Trophy semi-finals after Saturday’s brave 3-2 loss against Halifax League visitors Shelf Juniors, writes LEE SOBOT.

Wortley sit sixth in the Yorkshire Amateur League second tier and faced a side who were unbeaten in their last ten games but the YAL outfit took a 1-0 lead through Wade Rushworth.

Shelf recovered to lead 2-1 at the break but Wortley drew level through Joe Hudson, only for the Halifax side to once again nose ahead.
