They were facing a side who had played just 48 hours earlier in an FA Cup tie that went to extra time with Dover losing to Cambridge United.

Athletic’s dangerman Ricky Miller was well tackled by Connor Brown when he was well positioned to have a shot.

Jordan Preston had Guiseley’s first chance when his shot was easily dealt with by the keeper. Alex Purver caused problems for the home side with a number of his crosses keeping the Dover defenders on their toes although they were dealt with.

The sides went in 0-0 at half-time which was a fair reflection of the half’s events, but within five minutes of the second half it had all changed.

Moments later it was 2-0, this time Moses Emmanuel was given too much room and he took full advantage of this with a fine effort.

Simon Weaver’s side, who had lost six of their last seven games prior to the trip to Northamptonshire, took the lead in first-half stoppage time courtesy of Simon Ainge.

Ainge, normally a defender for the Lions, had been pushed up front as a makeshift striker and got his reward when he headed home Joe Leesley’s cross.

Brackley equalised five minutes after the restart when substitute David Moyo netted from close range.

Town looked set for a point, but Matt Lowe skipped through the Harrogate rearguard in the dying moments to earn his side all three points.

Kayode Odejayi had opened the scoring for Mark Bower’s side against the run of play in the first half, before Danny Lloyd missed a penalty to make it 2-0 in the second.

Moments after the miss, debutant John Cofie set up Emile Sinclair to level the scores with a neat finish, before Knowles’ deflected 25-yard strike won the game in the 95th minute.

FC Halifax Town lost 4-2 at Curzon Ashton.

Cliff Moyo and a Craig Hampson own goal accounted for the Shaymen’s tally.
