The winger scored a crucial and spectacular winner against Newcastle United on Tuesday night, pushing the Whites up to the 26 point mark from their first 19 top flight fixtures.

Winning 2-1 away from home against a Newcastle side who were desperate for points and caused Leeds a lot of problems was made even sweeter by West Brom's 5-0 capitulation against Manchester City on the same night.

Harrison modestly handed the plaudits for his goal to fellow winger Raphinha, who provided the assist, and said Leeds showed their mettle by bouncing back from three straight defeats.

"It was a great switch ball from Raphinha but I just hit it and hoped for the best," he said,.

"I was just happy to help the team and get the three points. We just have to keep taking it game by game.

"I think we've had a lot of time to prepare for this match, we've got a lot of personality and character and when you face adversity, for a team like this it can help you to improve. We used it in our favour and we came out on top."

Victory moved Marcelo Bielsa's men 14 points clear of the relegation zone and they're now closer to the top five than they are the bottom three.

The gap might look as comfortable as any Leeds fan could have hoped, before the season began, but Harrison insists there will be no easing up at Thorp Arch because at the highest level, trouble can still find you until you're finally mathematically safe.

"I think we can be happy as a team to get this far but we can't rest on our laurels," he said.

"We have to keep pushing because you're never safe in this league. We can't get too complacent and hopefully we can end this season strong."
