Grot joined Leeds under former head coach Thomas Christiansen on a four-year deal from NEC Nijmegan in August 2017 but has not featured competitively for the Whites since his outing as a second half substitute under former boss Paul Heckingbottom in the 2-0 loss at Norwich City in April 2018.

Grot then spent the following season back in the Eredivisie on loan at VVV Venlo - making 33 appearances and scoring six times for a side who finished 12th.

Another loan spell in the Eredivisie has followed this season at Vitesse Arnhem with Grot making 22 appearances and scoring twice including when bagging the only goal of the game in Arnhem's most recent outing via the 1-0 win at home to FC Twente on March 7.

Grot then suffered a meniscus tear just two minutes after scoring with the striker thought to be facing a potential three months out but Vitesse's season is now over with the Dutch FA effectively null and voiding the season due to the fight against coronavirus.

Speaking to Dutch daily newspaper De Gelderlander, Grot said his next focus was on returning to England to train with Leeds ahead of the 2020-21 campaign, whenever that may materialise.

“As it stands, I am starting the new season in England," said 22-year-old Grot.

"With the pre-season at Leeds. And after that? Let’s see. For the time being, there is no football at all.”
