Yan Dhanda: The Leeds United-linked ex-Liverpool starlet also wanted in Serie A

It's been a deathly quiet January transfer window for Leeds United so far this month - well, across the division, really - with no new faces arriving at Elland Road thus far, and just a couple of players leaving on loan deals.

While there's been a real lack of actual transfer activity, that hasn't stopped the rumour mill churning away relentlessly in the background, and Leeds United have been linked with a host of potential new signings - the most recent of which being Swansea City’ Yan Dhanda.

Here's everything you need to know about the player:

The basics:

Dhanda, 22, is a creative, attacking midfielder, who generally plays in an advanced midfield position, and could be seen as a potential replacement for Tyler Roberts, should he move on before the end of the transfer window.

He's currently on the books at Swansea City, but spent time in both West Brom and Liverpool's youth academies.

Born to Indian parents in Birmingham, Dhanda is a proud role-model for British Asian footballers, and has revealed his determination for his success to catalyse the breakthrough of a grossly under-represented group – he is one of just ten professional British Asian players in the UK - into the game.

Earlier in his career, he was capped at both U16 and U17 for England.

How's his club career gone thus far?

After excelling at youth level for the Swans, the player was handed his first-team debut in 2018, in an early-season clash against Sheffield United at Bramall Lane.

He got things off to the perfect start, smashing home an 85th-minute winner moments after coming off the bench.

This season, he's been a regular fixture in Steve Cooper’s side.

Highlights of the current campaign include a fine performance in a 2-0 win over Blackburn Rovers, in which he provided an assist, and impressive showing in an FA Cup third-round win over Stevenage earlier in the month.

What are his stats like this season?

Dhanda has featured in 13 matches, scoring once and making two assists.

Football stats site WhoScored has rated his average performance level at 6.51/10, with 71.5% passing accuracy.

How much is he likely to cost?

Swansea City picked him up on a free transfer back in 2018, and his value will gradually be rising as he continues to develop in the Championship.

There's not been much talk as to how much the Swans would ask for the player, but Transfermarkt rate his value at just shy of £1 million.

However, these figures - as most wiil appreciate - should be treated with caution, as they're are often WAY off the fee a player will actually command.

Who else want him?

Given that he's blessed with both pace and a real creative spark, and still have plenty of potential to improve his game, competition for Dhanda is high.

As things stand, Bournemouth, RB Leipzig, Marseille and Atalanta are all believed to be ready to challenge Leeds for the player's signature in the current transfer window.
