Leeds United's Griffin Park record - and London

One look at the history books suggest Leeds United are up against it.

The last time a Whites side came away victorious at Brentford was in 1950. Almost 70 years and 10 games in all competitions have passed since that fateful day at Griffin Park.

Marcelo Bielsa, though, doesn't just have the Bees curse to deal with.

It is now 10 games without a win in the capital for Leeds, with four defeats coming this season alone during that difficult run.

With the Championship promotion race wide open, Tuesday night would be a good time to alter the record books.

Thomas Frank adds spice

Head coaches often play things down, or sometimes they big things up.

Bees boss Thomas Frank opted to go in two-footed on this particular match, making several bold statements about his opposition in midweek. If you're of a United persuasion you can only hope Bielsa's men use it as fuel.

"We definitely have more momentum than Leeds right now," he said at his pre-match press conference.

"They play with an extreme intensity, higher than any other team in this division which we can only praise them for [and] everyone knows how much I respect Marcelo Bielsa and what he has done to build up Leeds as a club and as a team but they couldn't pick a worse place to play Tuesday night.

"I am 100 per cent sure that they fear us going into this game but that is not to say that we are just going to win it. I promise you one thing, we will be absolutely at it and ready to attack."

United have seen an 11-point gap over third place in the race for promotion disappear is an many matches.

Bielsa has seen his side hit a difficult run of form, and after four defeats in five could drop out of the top two in the Championship on Tuesday evening with defeat.

The race for the automatic promotion spots has been thrown wide open by second place Leeds and leaders West Brom - who have suffered similarly - with just six points separating the top five.

The Argentine, though, insists that despite a lack of results his side are very much sticking to their principles with 15 games to go.

"The players are doing the same things that they used to do," Bielsa said.

"Before maybe we didn't pay for the mistakes in the good moments but now we are paying higher consequences.

"We used to create chances and score those chances, and now we have those chances and we are not scoring."

Kalvin Phillips return a big boost

The return of Kalvin Phillips to Bielsa's side on Tuesday night is a welcome boost.

Leeds have been without their key defensive midfielder for three games following his dismissal at Queens Park Rangers.

Phillips is expected to head straight back into the Whites starting line-up, and will allow Ben White to return to his preferred centre-back position on a full time basis.

Gjanni Alioski could be the one to make way with Stuart Dallas dropping into left-back if required.
