Leeds United want to ‘keep breaking limits’ in the Premier League this season, according to on-loan winger Jack Harrison.

The newly-promoted Whites hauled themselves into the top half of the table on Monday night by leapfrogging this weekend’s opponents Arsenal following a 2-0 victory over Crystal Palace at Elland Road. Marcelo Bielsa’s men sit 10th in the standings and have amassed an impressive 32 points from 22 games this term.

Leeds are enjoying their first Premier League campaign in 16 years after a Championship title-winning season which culminated last summer after an elongated promotion race amid the global pandemic.

The LS11 outfit have opened up a healthy 17-point gap between themselves and the relegation zone as the top flight ticks just over the halfway mark. Noises from around the club have been consistent in their focus on the main goal being to avoid the drop back into the Football League at the first time of asking.

Bielsa also often refuses to be drawn on how he assesses his side’s progress, stating that he would prefer to wait until the end of the season to make an assessment.

Harrison, though, admitted that after a professional three-point haul over the Eagles on Monday night, it is up to the Whites squad to see what they can achieve.

“Definitely, yeah,” he said of wanting to look upwards in the table rather than down.

“I think, as a team, we are very ambitious. We want to keep pushing ourselves and keep breaking limits. That’s what we’re going to do.

“After the last result we had [at Elland Road] we wanted to redeem ourselves. We knew it was going to be a tough game but we prepared all week and came out strong.

“Obviously having a bit of fortune on the early goal helped us to play our style of football and keep possession.”

Bielsa has attacked the Premier League with much the same core group of players that he had at his disposal last season in the Championship.

There have been additions in the form of Robin Koch, Rodrigo and Raphinha - but the latter is the only one not to suffer a sustained spell on the sidelines since arriving in West Yorkshire.

“I think it is not only a credit to the players but to the club and obviously Marcelo and his coaching staff,” Harrison said.

“We haven’t had a drastic change at the club and it’s been an incredible development for the players here.

“Raphinha is obviously a fantastic player, you see his quality and skill every time he steps on the pitch. Hopefully he can keep it up for us in this form.”
