Stuart Dallas says Leeds United's players are 'hurting a lot' following a 6-2 humbling to arch rivals Manchester United at Old Trafford.

The Whites travelled to Lancashire with the weight of the Elland Road support on their shoulders for the behind closed doors clash in the top flight.

Leeds, though, were two goals down after just three minutes over the Pennines as they suffered a nightmare start to proceedings.

Red Devils midfielder Scott McTominay bagged twice before Bruno Fernandes piled on more misery on the 20 minute mark with a low finish from inside the box.

Victor Lindelof then pounced from a corner to make it four with Marcelo Bielsa left stunned on the touchline with his outfit struggling to compete with the hosts, losing the ball on a number of occasions in their own half.

Liam Cooper did get the visitors on the scoresheet ahead of the interval but his header was unable to prevent a one-sided affair.

Former Leeds target Daniel James scored after the break before Fernandes notched his second of the night as he converted from the penalty spot to leave an emphatic look to the scoreline.

Dallas did manage to pull another goal back for Leeds but the Whites squad were left to pick themselves up at the full-time whistle after what was a hugely disappointing afternoon.

"We are hurting a lot, we know how much this meant to a lot of people and how big the game is," Dallas said post-match.

"The early goals knocked the wind out of us but we tried to keep going right to the end and tried our best. The way we play we are going to be open to conceding goals.

"We created plenty of chances, it could have been 10-6 there were so many chances. We always believed we would create chances but the two early goals meant we were never really in the game.

"That's the way we play. We have got to stop them getting it to the front men."
