'They're upset because I'm right' - pundit claims Leeds United boss is ideal man for Premier League rivals

Leeds United claimed another established Premier League side scalp last weekend, as they stormed to an emphatic 3-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur at Elland Road.

Speaking after Leeds' win, talkSPORT pundit Tony Cascarino claimed Whites boss Marcelo Bielsa should be considered for the vacant Spurs job, and claimed: “A few months back, when Spurs were looking for a new manager, I said 'Bielsa'. I upset a few Leeds fans and actually got a couple of letters about it as well.

“The reason why they're upset is because I'm right - they don't want to lose their great manager, and he probably wouldn't want to leave Leeds anyway, because he's very committed to that football club... Tottenham need someone like him because of the way his team play.

“It was a complete mismatch in effort (when the two sides played on Saturday), desire and motivation. I looked at (Ezgjan) Alioski and (Jack) Harrison down the left, up against (Serge) Aurier and (Gareth) Bale - it was a complete mismatch on that side of the pitch, because Alioski and Harrison were continually running them ragged, Bale wasn't getting back to try and help out Aurier.”

Tottenham Hotspur have again been urged to consider Marcelo Bielsa for the vacant managerial role.

Cascarino concluded: "Leeds were far superior to Tottenham over ninety minutes. One was a team of real high tempo, top fast playing football, and the other was quite lackadaisical - it was quite slow and ponderous."

As things stand, Lazio boss Simone Inzaghi is the bookies' 2/1 favourite to become Jose Mourinho's successor, while Bielsa is - perhaps reassuringly for Leeds fans - a very distant 25/1.
