Stuart Dallas believes Leeds United can take lessons from a disappointing 4-1 Premier League defeat to Leicester City.

Marcelo Bielsa's side were well beaten at Elland Road on Monday evening and were on the back foot almost immediately following kick-off.

Former Leeds target Harvey Barnes handed the visitors the advantage after just three minutes as Jamie Vardy punished a Robin Koch mistake.

The German international played a loose backpass to goalkeeper Illan Meslier which was pounced on by the striker before he found Barnes with the goal at his mercy inside the box.

Youri Tielemans then added a second after the 20 minute mark from close-range leaving United a mountain to climb in LS11.

Dallas, though, inadvertently handed Leeds a lifeline just moments after the half-time interval as a cross from deep evaded everyone in the box to find the bottom corner of Kasper Schmeichel's net.

United then hit the bar through Pablo Hernandez but were again caught short at the back with just 14 minutes to go as Vardy linked up with substitute Cengiz Under.

Tielemans added a fourth in injury time to compound a miserable evening for the Whites, who were taught a harsh lesson over the fine margins of the top flight.

"I think there's a lot we can learn," Dallas reflected post-match.

"I've said it before that you learn in every game you play in and this is no different. There's certainly lots of things we can work on.

"We were below the standards we've set ourselves, certainly in the first half. We got the goal and we got back into it and started to control the game.

"Unfortunately we couldn't get that equaliser. We're playing against top quality players - it is difficult.

"You've seen the pace that they've got and it is difficult to to deal with, but it's one of disappointment tonight because we've had a decent start [to the season].

"We came into the game trying to get a positive result and we were not able to do that."

Asked about the disappointing start to the match, he added: "We've given ourselves an uphill task of getting back into the game.

"We didn't start the game how we wanted to and I think it took us 25 to 30 minutes before we started to find our rhythm and get on the ball to play a bit. By that time we're 2-0 down.

"We knew we were going to have a lot of the ball and they were going to hit us on the counter and they've done that. They've shown quality.

"It's a disappointing night for us but we gave it a go in the second half. We got ourselves back into it and again we're caught on the counter. It's a goal again that could be avoided from us.

"We'll take the positives from this and we have to turn our attention to Saturday [against Crystal Palace] quickly."
