A strange betting market for Leeds United in which layers don't know what to expect from Marcelo Bielsa's men

Leeds United are long odds-on to survive their first season back in the Premier League and only six sides are shorter in the betting to win the division.

Marcelo Bielsa’s Whites are still as big as 200-1 in the outright betting market but only six sides are shorter in what is billed a two-horse between defending champions Liverpool and last season’s runners-up Manchester City.

Pep Guardiola’s City side are actually favourites and a shade of odds on at 5-6 with Jurgen Klopp’s Reds available at 11-5.

Big spending Chelsea are next but Frank Lampard’s Blues are still as big as 12-1 with Manchester United next at 18s.

There is then a big gap to FA Cup holders Arsenal who are 50-1 followed by Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham Hotspur outfit who are 66-1.

But albeit after a big gap, Marcelo Bielsa’s Whites are next at 200s and a shorter price than both Leicester City and Wolves, who can both be backed at 250-1 with Sheffield United available at 750s.

That is not to say that the bookies necessarily expect Leeds to storm to a seventh-placed finish as Leeds can be backed at 9-4 just to finish in the top half.

As part of a strange market in which the layers don’t really know what to expect from the Whites, Leeds are actually ninth favourites to go down but still as big as 4-1 for the drop.

Leeds are 1-5 to stay up and last season’s Championship runners-up West Brom are joint favourites to go down with play-off winners Fulham – the duo both at 11-10.

Aston Villa are next at just 2-1 for relegation, followed by Newcastle United and Crystal Palace, who are both 5-2.

Burnley are 100-30 with Sheffield United and Brighton both 4s.

Leeds, though, are comfortably expected to hold their own, even if the layers are not quite sure just where the Whites will end up

Sky Bet also have a series of Leeds United specials with Bielsa 6-1 to win a Premier League manager of the month award and the Whites odds-on at 8-11 to finish above the Blades.

Sky Bet make Leeds 6-1 for a top six finish, 16-1 to finish above Roses rivals Manchester United and only 20-1 to win a trophy.

But United are not expected to get anything on the opening day of the season with Liverpool around the 1-4 market and Leeds as big as 11-2 even to bag a draw with 21-2 on offer about an away victory.

Liverpool striker Mo Salah is 5-1 favourite to be the division’s top goalscorer, with Tottenham talisman Harry Kane and Arsenal forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang joint second favourites and both 6s.

Even Manchester City legend Sergio Aguero is only fourth favourite at 15-2 with a gap then to Chelsea recruit Timo Werner at 12s, City’s Raheem Sterling at 14s and Liverpool’s Sadio Mane at 16s.

Only then do you get to last season’s Golden Boot winner, Leicester’s Jamie Vardy who is on offer at 18s. Talk about being back with the big boys.
