The Whites took an early lead through a retaken Mateusz Klich penalty, but were pegged back before the break by a Tomas Soucek header.

Marcelo Bielsa's men were then undone by another towering effort from the Hammers with 10 minutes to go, this time courtesy of Angelo Ogbonna, eventually slumping to a sixth league defeat of the season.

Speaking on Sky Sports after the match, Beckford was quick to highlight the relentless pressure West Ham applied on his former club, and admitted that it made for difficult viewing from a Leeds perspective.

"They made moments in that game so horrible, Leeds United couldn’t quite get their momentum going”, he said.

“It was frustrating to watch. It was disappointing watching it from my point of view as well, because I know how good Leeds are when they’re attacking, when they’re in possession – I didn’t see that today.

"I saw a lot of high energy work rate, but I didn’t see the stuff in the final third that wins you games, that creates real clear-cut opportunities, and I just felt a bit disappointed.

"The first half was brilliant from Leeds. Every one of their players were on the front foot. They were looking for spaces to pass the ball into. Patrick Bamford’s movement, his energy, was great, fantastic.

"Then second half, West Ham just stopped it. They were man-marking them, they started running sensibly, they were following their players all around the place.”
