Reversing recent run paramount for Leeds United as fans fear another ‘routine result’ in the capital - YEP Jury

Nails are being bitten and muscles are starting to twitch involuntarily but a first win of the year in the capital in front of the Sky TV cameras tomorrow against Queens Park Rangers will lighten the promotion load for all associated with Leeds United.

Here’s what they have to say ahead of tomorrow's Championship encounter at Loftus Road:

We are unbeaten away from home so far this season – if you discount games in London that is where we’ve lost every single one.

Still, there’s no time like the present to break a record like that and put our season back on the right trajectory.

QPR away last season was a game where many lost hope and lost faith in Bielsa’s project.

That despair was eventually realised in May but not before we’d put ourselves back on track and beaten West Brom 4-0 at Elland Road.

It’s only January and the anguish is already setting in. If it’s not our recent results then it’s our lack of activity in the transfer window that is generating a wave of negative noise in the Leeds camp.

Last week, we went from being ready for the Premier League with a narrow loss at Arsenal to being in danger of throwing away promotion with a narrow loss to Sheffield Wednesday.

We’re a very good side and we’ll show it with a win at Loftus Road.

ANDY RHODES

Earlier this season, Leeds claimed a routine victory over Queens Park Rangers at Elland Road – but tomorrow will be different.

Not only is it a dreaded trip to the Big Smoke but, as Marcelo Bielsa noted last weekend, there’s currently a sense of worry around LS11.

If United could get a win in London then the anxiety would ease, but it will be no easy task.

The R’s have scored an average of two goals per game at home this season, although that’s coupled with the most conceded.

Leeds, then, will look to take advantage and get back on track, particularly with Brentford breathing down their neck.

With the side lacking creativity last weekend, Pablo Hernandez may come back into the side, while Patrick Bamford is likely to continue up front with the club’s striker search stalling.

United have won just one of their last 19 games in the capital.

Now has to be the time to change all that.

Prediction: Queens Park Rangers 2 Leeds United 2.

JACOB STARR

After a disappointing result against Sheffield Wednesday, as well as lack of movement so far in the transfer market, a win on Saturday would settle the nerves of fans and players alike.

However, visiting London and being on the end of a positive result has proved extremely difficult in recent times. Three of Leeds’ five defeats this season have come in London and all by one-goal margins – at Charlton, Millwall and Fulham.

The Whites have arguably the toughest fixture out of all the promotion contenders, with West Brom, Brentford, Fulham, Nottingham Forest and Swansea all facing teams below the Hoops in the table.

Mark Warburton’s side will be hoping to bounce back from their derby loss at third-placed Brentford, and could have ex-Leeds Jack Clarke in on loan in time to face his former club.

United’s unwanted record in the capital cannot go on forever, and we don’t want a repeat of last season where a smash -and-grab defeat at Loftus Road proved crucial at the end of the campaign.

Prediction: Queens Park Rangers 1 Leeds United 2.

DAVID WATKINS

Every game is vital now ... but this one feels particularly important, probably because it’s the next!

After seven consecutive victories, we’ve now won just once in the last seven, although I’d contend they were far more difficult games so it’s hard to know if Leeds’ form has dipped or whether it’s the quality of the opposition. We are still playing well and creating chances but that season-long tendency to miss too many is a worry.

QPR represents a chance to get back on track; we’ve consistently beaten bottom-half teams all season – our only win in this latest sequence was against Birmingham and the 2-0 win over the Hoops at the start of November began our ‘magnificent seven’. It’s hard to assess QPR’s form; they’ve lost three of their last five but the two wins were a 6-1 demolition of Cardiff and a 5-1 cup thrashing of Swansea so they know where the net is.

I’m predicting a Leeds win. We have an appalling record in the Capital but anything other than three points and the chasing pack will pile on the pressure.

Prediction: Queens Park Rangers 1 Leeds United 2.

MIKE GILL

United’s army of fans once again invade the capital city, this time for a Saturday lunchtime kick-off courtesy, of course, of Sky TV.

This time, the destination is Shepherds Bush where we lost twice last season. Add this to our woeful record in London this term and there will be a few nervous people about.

Rangers are a mystery side this year.

They are capable of scoring and conceding large amounts of goals in equal measure.

They have impressive forwards in Hugill, Wells and the prodigiously talented Ebe and it is even rumoured that Jack Clarke may be joining them.

They were well-beaten at Elland Road earlier in the season, when the 2 - 0 scoreline didn’t really do the Whites justice.

Let us hope that Kiko & Company have left their defensive frailties behind them and that United can bag some goals of their own.

They have to win in London sometime and Saturday would be a good place to start – especially with Brentford coming up.

Prediction: Queens Park Rangers 2 Leeds United 3.

KEITH INGHAM

Leeds travel to London for the fifth time this season and came away with nothing from the games played against Millwall, Charlton, Fulham and Arsenal in the FA Cup.

The game at QPR, without doubt, is a key game; Leeds have one win in seven games, including the cup and the natives are starting to get restless ... already.

Leeds face a QPR team that has been in superb form in their last two home games.

They beat Swansea 5-1 and, in the home game before that, hammered Cardiff City 6-1.

Last week, they suffered a defeat at Brentford, who are starting to eat away at the points difference Leeds had on third place before their ‘wobble’.

I’d love to be full of confidence about this game but I’m not; QPR have been scoring regularly – apart from last week – and Leeds have been conceding goals alarmingly too often recently.

The best I can hope for is a point.

But, I don’t think they’ll get anything from another trip to London.

Maybe it’s the hangover from last season when Leeds threw away the chance of promotion with a poor Christmas and an even-worse Easter that has made us, the fans, worry that history could, unfortunately, repeat itself with another second-half-of-the-season collapse.

The uncertainty over the transfer market has added fuel to the fire; it looks as though Leeds’ top target, Che Adams, will be staying where he is ... on the Southampton substitutes’ bench as his manager has said that he wants the striker within his squad.

Leeds have been linked with a multitude of players so now will probably have to move to their next-best option.

God forbid that Patrick Bamford gets injured; the options up front, if he does, are nearly non-existent as Tyler Roberts is not available yet and Ryan Edmundson is not a player that Bielsa has confidence in.

That leaves either Jack Harrison or Helder Costa as a ‘false No 9’. Surely a team in the top two of the Championship needs better options than that!

The Hoops are rumoured to be hoping to boost their squad with the loan signing of Jack Clarke from Spurs before the game on Saturday.

Bielsa will definitely be without Roberts and Forshaw with Stuart Dallas a major doubt after limping off at the end of the defeat to Wednesday. Either Pablo Hernandez or Jamie Shackleton will probably come into the starting XI.

Prediction: Queens Park Rangers 2 Leeds United 1.
