EIGHTEEN-YEAR-old midfielder Ronaldo Vieira has been handed his first start for Leeds United for today’s Championship trip to QPR.

Vieira only signed professional terms for Leeds in May but the teenager has made enormous strides since and has impressed all the way through pre-season.

But there is no place in the Leeds starting XI or even on the bench for new signing Pablo Hernandez who only joined the club from Qatari side Al-Arabi last Monday.

The 31-year-old does not feature as the former Spanish international has not yet received international clearance.

New signing Matt Grimes is also preferred to Alex Mowatt in midfield while Sol Bamba was given the nod to partner Kyle Bartley at centre-back over Liam Cooper.

Cooper has only recently returned to full training after a calf injury.

Chris Wood again starts up front in a lone striking role, with Stuart Dallas and another new signing in Kemar Roofe on the flanks.

Along with Vieira, Toumani Diagouraga completes the midfield with Charlie Taylor filling his usual role at left back and Gaetano Berardi returning to the side from injury at right back.

New goalkeeper recruit Rob Green starts in between the sticks against his former side.
