Championship leaders United have seen their promotion push halted amidst the social distancing restrictions to combat COVID-19 which has the Premier League and EFL seasons indefinitely suspended.

Leeds' players are continuing to train from home and striker Bamford admits his side are in a difficult state of limbo in not knowing when they will be back on a football field.

Yet top scorer Bamford knows football is not of primary importance at present with the forward hoping the current lockdown will cause a pause for thought and reflection and make the world a better place and more appreciative in the longer term.

"I think everyone is generally quite upbeat," said Bamford, asked about the squad's current morale.

"I know obviously football is coming second at the minute - as it should do to everything else.

"But with us we are obviously doing our work every day but we don't have something to aim for at the minute.

"If they told us 'look, you are going to be back on July 15, that's when the first games are going to be played' then at least in our head we can gear ourselves up for that.

"At the minute it's the bit of not knowing that makes it difficult.

"But it's one of them where you have got to look at things in a different perspective because we are fortunate in that the way we live and the job we do keeps us healthy.

"I know it's not guaranteed but it should keep us away from being hurt by the virus.

"There's lots of other people in different circumstances and I think after this lockdown and after everything that has happened I think you will see people taking a different look on life.

"I think the world and the country will change quite a bit."
