The new deal for Pablo Hernandez will keep him at Leeds United until the summer of 2022. Hernandez has been in stunning form for the Whites over the past couple of years, creating and scoring goals for fun in Marcelo Bielsa's expansive system as Leeds have been challenging at the top end of the table. Check out Hernandez' glittering career in numbers below:
1. 77 - career league goals
Although more of a creator, Hernandez certainly has an eye for goal. The Spaniard has now scored more league goals for Leeds United (24) than at any other club. No wonder he wants to stay! Photo: Getty
2. 4 - international caps
That Hernandez made four appearances for Spain after their Euro 2008 win shows how highly he was rated. When he was drafted into Spain's squad for the Confederations Cup, it was as a replacement for Andres Iniesta for goodness sake. He even scored once too, in a 5-1 win against Austria. Photo: Getty
3. 57 - Premier League appearances
A Premier League regular under Swansea City, Hernandez was a key cog in the team when the South Wales club were thriving in the top-tier with expansive, attacking football. Does he fancy some of the same at Elland Road next year? Photo: Getty
4. 1 - beautiful goal against Barcelona
Hernandez scored a few times against arguably the greatest club side of all time. His effort in 2009 was something of beauty, though. Cutting through the heart of the Barca midfield, he plays a delicious one-two with Juan Mata before sliding the ball under Victor Valdes. Find it on YouTube, you won't be disappointed. Photo: Getty
5. 24 - goals and assists last season
12 goals, 12 assists. Make no mistake about it, the Spaniard was a huge contributor to Leeds' promotion push. It's hard to look past him when naming the best creative player in the league. Photo: Getty
6. 1 - trophy won
Swansea City dispatched Liverpool and Chelsea on the way to the final, and it was Leeds' neighbours Bradford City who were put to the sword in the final to give Hernandez his first major honour. Photo: Getty
