Giuseppe Bellusci will miss tonight’s friendly at North Ferriby United with Leeds United intent on moving the defender on before the end of the transfer window.
Bellusci has been given further time to resolve his future after being told by Leeds that he will not be part of head coach Thomas Christiansen’s plans.
Leeds attempted to find a club for Bellusci, who spent last season on loan at Empoli in Italy, before the start of pre-season training and gave him an extra week off in the hope of arranging another move to Serie A.
The centre-back returned to training at Thorp Arch last week, however, and played 45 minutes in both of Leeds’ pre-season friendlies against Harrogate Town and Guiseley.
Those appearances raised the question of whether he might regain a place in United’s squad next season but his outing at Guiseley was marred by a spat with the crowd and Christiansen hinted afterwards that the defender was unlikely to travel with Leeds for their three-match tour of Austria.
Bellusci, who has 12 months left on his contract at Elland Road, has now been omitted from the travelling squad for this evening’s clash with North Ferriby and will not be part of the travelling party to Austria.
