Championship front-runners United have seen their push for the Premier League halted due to the country's fight against coronavirus which has the EFL season suspended.

The EFL have stated an intention to fulfil their remaining fixtures in a 56-day time-frame during the summer months behind closed doors but the country remains on lockdown with strict social distancing measures.

As the fight against COVID-19 continues, several leagues across Europe have stated a desire to end their campaigns early with debates ongoing about whether current placings should stand or whether seasons should be declared null and void.

All remaining games in England's National League have been cancelled with sporting outcomes of the 2019-20 season remaining under consideration.

Warnock, though, feels the English season should merely remain on hold for as long as necessary before then being properly completed whenever the time is right.

“I think even the National League, they should finish when this is all over," said Warnock, speaking to talkSPORT.

"I can’t see why they can’t finish as and when the country can let it happen.

"I don’t agree with the cancelling thing. It’s the easy option.

"They should leave it until it’s impossible to play on.

"I think it’s fairer to finish the season. The likes of Leeds and West Brom...it beggars belief that their season might not finish.

"Even if it means finishing it in September."
