Sheffield United and West Brom are already seen as doomed by the bookmakers with the Blades no bigger than 1-16 to go down and the Baggies 5-18 but as short as 1-7.

Yet an improving Fulham are now only 15-16 whereas a sliding Newcastle are clear fourth favourites for the drop at 2-1.

Despite their own recent slump in form, Leeds are still as big as 25-1 to be relegated with seven teams seen as more likely as Burnley (9-2), Brighton (29-5) and Crystal Palace (16s) are also all shorter in the betting.

Consequently, it figures that Marcelo Bielsa's Whites are firm favourites to take all three points at St James' Park this evening with Leeds no bigger than 19-20 for victory.

The draw is on offer at 3s with Steve Bruce's Magpies as big as 31-10 on home soil.

Patrick Bamford is favourite to score first at 15-4 with Newcastle's Callum Wilson next in the betting at 11-2.

Dwight Gayle is rated the second most potent Magpies threat at 15-2, a shorter price than Andy Carroll at 17-2.

Joelinton is as big as 11s with the returning Allan Saint-Maximin even greater odds at 12s.

Whites youngster Sam Greenwood is again surprisingly high in the betting at 13-2 to score first and shorter than Rodrigo who is 7s.

For Leeds, Tyler Roberts (17-2), Pablo Hernandez (8s), Helder Costa (10s) and Raphinha (10s) are next with Mateusz Klich and Jack Harrison both 12s.

Yet Bamford is just 22-19 as an any time scorer and three of the front five outcomes in the correct score market involve a Whites win via 2-1 (44-5), 1-0 (19-2) and 2-0 (11s).

A 1-1 draw is favourite at 38-5 with a 2-2 stalemate fifth best at 29-2 and only then do you get the first Newcastle win in the list via a 2-1 success for the Magpies which is 29-2.

The Magpies have now gone 368 minutes without scoring yet are still surprisingly short at 2-5 to net against the Whites.

Leeds, who themselves have not bagged for 288 minutes, are 1-6.
