Mateusz Klich continues run of Leeds United starters at the Euros as Poland face Slovakia
LEEDS United midfielder Mateusz Klich returns to the Poland starting line up for Monday's Euros opener against Slovakia in Saint Petersburg.
Klich was an unused substitute as Poland signed off for the Euro 2020 with a 2-2 draw in a friendly against Iceland, after which boss Paulo Sousa said he had rested the Whites ace on the advice of the team doctor.
"The doctor showed us the players we should spare. That is why we decided not to play Klich," said the Poland boss.
But the Whites midfielder is now back in the side for Monday's 5pm kick-off and becomes the second Leeds player to start for their country on the same day after Liam Cooper lined up for Scotland against the Czech Republic.
Kalvin Phillips also started for England in Sunday's Group D opener against Croatia and set up the only goal in a 1-0 victory whilst Gjanni Alioski then lined up for North Macedonia in a 3-1 defeat to Austria.
