Poveda injured himself following a collision in the centre circle in the 56th minute when Jackson's side had already used all three substitutes in Monday's clash at Thorp Arch.

After receiving treatment, Poveda was unable to continue and was helped by two members of staff to hobble off the pitch at a point when Leeds were 1-0 up through a Tyler Roberts penalty.

Sunderland then rallied and Kiko Casilla produced a strong save to deny Cieran Dunne an equaliser but United then stormed on to bag a second goal through Niall Huggins.

Even with ten men, Leeds then survived nearly ten minutes of added time to record a 2-0 victory that sent Jackson's side ten points clear at the top of Premier League Two's Division Two.

"It's nice to see," said Jackson, speaking to LUTV.

"We obviously made the substitutions and we hope Ian is okay.

"He's getting assessed now so we hope he is okay but we were never going to take any risk with him once he had that knock or anything like that.

"With the subs we have that is something we have to be mindful of and in a strange kind of way it was pleasing to see how the lads coped with that kind of stressful situation.

"I said to the players after the game I thought they coped really, really well, they showed a different side to how they need to play.

"They showed a real togetherness and a real desire to work hard for one another to keep that clean sheet."
