Leeds United head coach Marcelo Bielsa has been shortlisted for the best men's FIFA coach award for 2020 alongside Jurgen Klopp and Zinedine Zidane.

The Whites' boss has been nominated after leading the Elland Road club back to the Premier League for the first time in 16 years.

Bielsa, who made the move to West Yorkshire in 2018, has been named in a star-studded line-up of coach's in the wake of earning Championship promotion in the summer.

Liverpool's Klopp has also been listed among the contenders following his sides Premier League triumph after a lengthy 30-year wait for England's top flight trophy.

La Liga winner and Real Madrid manager Zidane is joined by Sevilla's Julen Lopetegui with a nomination due to the latter's Europa League success.

Bayern Munich's Hans-Dieter Flick completes the candidates with the Bundesliga outfit claiming their domestic title alongside the Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and German Super Cup.

A FIFA statement said: "The five-person shortlist for The Best FIFA Men’s Coach 2020 award - based on their respective achievements during the period period between 20 July 2019 to 7 October 2020 - was compiled by a panel of experts in men’s football.

"Voting to decide the winner is equally weighted between fans, journalists, national team coaches and captains.

"The three finalists for each award will be revealed at a later date, with all award winners revealed at The Best FIFA Football Awards ceremony in Zurich on 17 December 2020."
