Marcelo Bielsa provides positive Liam Cooper and Adam Forshaw news ahead of Leeds United's hosting of Fulham

LEEDS United captain Liam Cooper is expected to be fit for Saturday's Premier League clash at home to Fulham having missed the Liverpool opener with a calf injury.

Whites skipper Cooper picked up the calf problem on international duty with Scotland and failed a late fitness test ahead of last weekend's contest at Anfield on United's long-awaited return to the Premier League after a 16-year absence.

Pascal Struijk instead came into the side to partner new signing Robin Koch at centre-back but Whites head coach Marcelo Bielsa provided a very positive update regards Cooper's fitness at his pre-Fulham press conference.

"We think Cooper will be ready to play the game on Saturday," said Bielsa.

United's head coach also provided an update as to the progress of midfielder Adam Forshaw who continues to recover from hip surgery.

Bielsa added: "There are no new injuries from the last few days and Forshaw has been taking part in collective training today apart from any actual playing of football.

"Next week his rehab will continue."
