Marcelo Bielsa grateful to Kiko Casilla for resolving last-minute problem for Leeds United against Reading

Marcelo Bielsa was grateful to his goalkeeper Kiko Casilla for resolving a last-minute problem the head coach felt he himself should have fixed in Leeds' 1-0 win over Reading.

The Spanish stopper, who is awaiting the verdict of an FA hearing into allegations of racism, came up with a huge injury-time stop to deny Royals defender Liam Moore, who had joined the attack and escaped the clutches of Liam Cooper.

Bielsa made a point of entering the field of play at the full-time whistle to congratulate Casilla. The former Real Madrid man has come under fire for high profile errors in recent weeks but secured his side's victory and a second successive clean sheet by stopping Moore.

The Argentine felt he himself should have prevented the confusion that created Reading's late chance with some intervention from the touchline.

"There was a situation in the last minute for them, I should have done something to resolve it," said Bielsa.

"The number six became a striker, that created a confusion that maybe I could have solved from the bench. It was this player who had a clear chance in the last minute.

"[Casilla] had a very important impact on the result. Sometimes we were better than the opponent and he conceded goals that had an impact on the result in previous matches. Today it was the opposite. His save had an impact in our favour."

Saturday's victory, which took Leeds five points clear of third-placed Fulham, had a routine feel to it. The Whites were dominant in terms of possession and territory, particularly after the break, and made enough chances to win two games.

"It was a similar match as the matches we're used to playing," said Bielsa.

"In general we created double or triple the chances of the opponent. We had more possession than the opponent. Today it was this situation."

The chances Leeds missed included efforts from lone striker Patrick Bamford, who hasn't scored in five games and has just two goals in his last 11 outings.

Bielsa, who has said more than once that he values how often Bamford is in the right place at the right time to get on the end of crosses and passes into the area, was keen to point out the forward wasn't alone in wasting chances.

"We had a lot of players in good condition to score," he said.

"All our more offensive players were in good condition to score today.

"Klich, Pablo, Costa, Alioski had chances to score. The way we attack gives good condition to our players to finish those chances, but especially Patrick."
