Marcelo Bielsa has admitted that Tyler Roberts has given him food for thought ahead of this weekend's Yorkshire derby against Huddersfield Town.

The Whites claimed a stunning 4-0 victory over the Tigers on Saturday lunchtime, as they made it four wins in a row in the race for automatic promotion from the Championship.

The 21-year-old bagged twice in three minutes in the latter stages of the contest to hand Bielsa's men a resounding three points and send a clear message to their promotion rivals.

United remain second in the table, one point behind leaders West Bromwich Albion and five points ahead of third-place Fulham.

Roberts has endured an injury-hit campaign having been limited to just four starts and eight substitute appearances before the clash in East Yorkshire.

His ninth cameo, though, showed United exactly what they have been lacking in front of goal this term.

Forward Patrick Bamford - who was replaced by Roberts at Hull - suffered a barren spell in February as he went seven games without finding the back of the net across the month, failing to add to his haul of 12 goals this season.

United's number nine has always been Bielsa's preferred option in leading the line due to his heavy work rate, which saw loanee Eddie Nketiah return to parent club Arsenal in the winter window in search of more first-team minutes as a result.

January replacement Jean-Kevin Augustin has also been limited in his action after undergoing an intense fitness regime in a bid to get up to speed at Elland Road, but has now suffered what the club have described as a minor hamstring injury which has seen him miss the last two outings.

Bielsa has now conceded that Roberts' instant impact has given him another option to consider up front ahead of the forthcoming visit of the Terriers to LS11, having used the Baggies academy product mainly as an attacking midfielder until the weekend.

"Clearly it is an option," Bielsa said.

"Tyler (Roberts) can play in this position. Normally we always have two players to fight for one position.

"He can be an option for Patrick (Bamford) and he also can be an option for (Mateusz) Klich or Pablo (Hernandez) as a playmaker.

"When one striker scores, of course that has a high value and after that, the manager considers this."
