Good day - Ilan Meslier

No goalkeeper would ever consider it a good day after shipping six goals, not even in victory, but Illan Meslier’s one-man show stopped Manchester United from hitting double figures.

Bad day - Kalvin Phillips

The one he wanted so badly, a game he has dreamt of for years. It was as bad a nightmare as he could have ever imagined. Hooked at half-time, overrun and unable to protect the back-four.

Turning point - minute one

Leeds lost the ball inside the first minute of the game, Manchester United attacked and had it in the back of the net early in the second minute. It set the tone for the afternoon, gave the hosts confidence in a counter attacking style they suit and gave the visitors a mountain they couldn’t climb.

Number of the day - 26

Manchester United were clinical but they also created at will, slicing through Leeds’ midfield and defence, using pace and skill to punish any loose play and transitioning quicker than the visitors could cope with.

They mustered 26 shots, a feat Leeds themselves are usually well capable of achieving. Had it not been for Illan Meslier, it could have been even more humiliating.
