Luke Ayling believes Leeds United have had a "great week" after picking up four points from three Championship games.

The Whites started the seven day stretch with a 2-0 defeat against Nottingham Forest at the City Ground last weekend as they faced three promotion rivals in quick succession.

Leeds, though, bounced back with a strong performance at Brentford in a 1-1 draw before a 1-0 victory over Bristol City at Elland Road on Saturday afternoon.

Ayling bagged the winner in the 16th minute in LS11 to the delight of the home crowd to give his side a deserved victory.

Marcelo Bielsa's side missed countless chances to add to the scoreline as they dominated the Robins to once again open up a three point advantage over third-placed Fulham in the race for automatic promotion to the Premier League.

The 28-year-old revealed at the full-time whistle he believes that after a difficult start to the week Leeds have finished in a strong position from a tough triple header.

“It’s nice to score a goal,” Ayling told LUTV post-match.

“With the way it came about it bounced up and I just smashed it with my left foot as hard as I could and it went in luckily.

“We made some great chances, but one goal is all it took today.

"I think it’s about time us boys at the back actually kept a clean sheet. It is a while since we have done that, so it meant the one goal was enough.

“It started as a bad week, we had three really hard games, but it’s now a great week after all.

“The atmosphere was rocking [at Elland Road], they've been with us all season and we have seven home games left.

"I’m sure the crowd will keep turning out over and over again.”
