Lucas Radebe highlights importance of Leeds United's fans in touching tribute to Norman Hunter

FORMER Leeds United captain Lucas Radebe has paid tribute to a Whites great on and off the field in legendary centre-back Norman Hunter.

Hunter - who made 726 appearances for the Whites - passed away aged 76 on April 17 after his battle with coronavirus.

The former Whites legend helped Leeds to two First Division titles, two Inter-Cities Fairs Cups, a Charity Shield, a League Cup and the club’s one and only FA Cup triumph.

And former Whites star Radebe knows Hunter's influence extended far beyond the football pitch with the former England international having been a regular and popular figure attending match days at Elland Road.

United have renamed the South Stand as the Norman Hunter South Stand in Hunter's honour;.

Speaking to former Arsenal and England ace Ian Wright as part of an Adidas Home Team episode, Radebe said: "To lose such a great person, not just a player but a person off the field of play, condolences to his family

"I hope they're getting strength from the support, from the fans. But it's a very sad thing that happened for the club."
