Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk believes that Leeds United will cause a lot of Premier League teams problems this season.

The Whites played out an enthralling 4-3 with the Reds on Saturday evening as Marcelo Bielsa's men fell just short of claiming a point at Anfield.

A Mo Salah hat-trick along with a header from Van Dijk was enough to lift Jurgen Klopp's men to victory despite goals from Jack Harrison, Patrick Bamford and Mateusz Klich.

United pushed the reigning top flight champions until the very end with a Salah penalty - the second spot-kick of the encounter - required in the 88th minute to settle the affair.

Van Dijk, though, was suitably impressed by Leeds' showing on Merseyside and believes they could be a problem for many this term.

"I enjoyed the win for sure,” the Dutchman said.

“We knew it was going to be very intense and we knew it was going to be tough.

"It's early on in the season and there are many things we can improve. We will work on it.

"It's totally what we expected from Leeds. At times we could have done better but the most important thing is the three points.

"Leeds are going to cause a lot of teams problems because of the way they play. Credit to them."
