Leeds United's Under-23s side secured their first victory in over two months on Monday afternoon with a 2-0 win over Barnsley at Thorp Arch.

Pablo Hernandez, Barry Douglas and Gaetano Berardi all saw 45 minutes of action with defender Bryce Hosannah also making his comeback from injury.

It took United just four minutes to break the deadlock as Ryan Edmondson neatly tucked away a low ball from Liam McCarron.

The visitors themselves went close through Dylan Mottley-Henry and Elliot Simoes but goalkeeper Kamil Miazek was on hand to keep the Reds out.

Leeds added to the scoreline on the hour mark as Jordan Stevens pounced on a Tykes mix up in defence.

A loose header dropped between two Barnsley defenders with Edmondson making his way back from an offside position.

Stevens raced onto the bouncing ball with the Reds defence frozen to tuck home at the first attempt past the onrushing Harrison Davison-Hale.

The Tykes twice went close in response through Harry Gagen before Sam Fielding saw a headed effort fly over the bar.

Pascal Struijk almost grabbed a third for the Whites as he towered from a corner but Keziam Martin swiped the ball off the line.

Stevens then struck the post from distance in added time but two goals were enough to hand Carlos Corberan's side their first victory in six outings across all competitions.
