Leeds United's Jack Harrison on Marcelo Bielsa's final preparations for Cardiff City clash

The winger and his fellow league-leading Whites will travel to Cardiff City for Sunday's Championship restart, knowing they are almost within touching distance of achieving the dream.

Three months after the season was suspended, Leeds are in the midst of completing their final preparations and Harrison is raring to go.

"It's definitely exciting to get back playing again," he said.

"I don't think I've ever been this long without playing. Getting back into things in training has been exciting, just getting a feel for the ball again has been good. It was a little bit frustrating in quarantine not being able to touch a ball or being able to train. A lot of our fitness was probably just running, it was a little frustrating for me, I love to play and get on the ball.

"It's weird if you think how the time has gone by, it's gone so quick and now we're right back where we left off.

"I think not just the players but the fans and everybody have been waiting for this for a long time."

The interim period saw Leeds players working from home before the return to Thorp Arch. Football came back elsewhere first, but Harrison wasn't particularly tempted by the behind-closed-doors Bundesliga action on television.

He's waiting to experience football without fans for himself, not that he expects it to impact Leeds unduly on Sunday.

"I didn't actually watch too much football if I'm being honest," he said.

"I've heard a lot of people talk about it's a weird feeling not having the fans there and stuff. I'll see first hand this weekend what it's like.

"I don't think we're a team that lets away fans get to us too much and it's hard to take positives from the situation, but it's a level playing field, it gives the away side a more even chance I guess."

Marcelo Bielsa has been taking his team through Cardiff City specifics in training this week and showing them video clips of the 2-0 Elland Road win over Huddersfield Town, the final game before the season was suspended.

Harrison says things have begun to ramp up in the past few days as the squad switch back into competiton mentality.

"Now that we're getting closer to the games, this last week has been focused on the concentration and mental side, we've had more meetings," he said.

"The message is that there's going to be nine finals. We just have to take it game by game. If we do the things we know we can do right there shouldn't be any reason why we can't continue where we left off.

"I don't think there's been a momentum that's carried on because it's been such a long time, but as players there's a refreshing feeling, everyone is more just excited to get back playing rather than building off momentum we had before. It was a shame the way it had to end the way it did but there's no reason why we can't build that momentum up now.

"I get the sensation [from Bielsa] that if they'd cancelled the season and figured things out that way it wouldn't have been quite as rewarding, as great a feeling as if we earned it. That's the sensation I get. We want to finish these nine games not only to prove to ourselves but to everyone else that we deserve it. We don't want to be just given it. He's always working on being morally right, doing the right thing and it's a credit to him and how he emits that throughout the team. We all like to follow his lead, that's what we're doing as a squad.

"The training we've had has prepared us for anything. The whole team, the fans are all ready for this weekend to come round now.

"Everyone is physically ready and mentally ready to finish off the last nine games and get promotion. "
