Leeds United youngster Jordan Stevens moves to League One Swindon Town on loan

The 20-year-old becomes the second winger to arrive at The County Ground in the last three days, following the more experienced Joel Grant into Richie Wellens' squad.

Swindon's manager believes Stevens will add a different dimension to his attack.

"He brings pace, energy and something different in midfield," said Wellens.

"He's good on the ball and can get us up the pitch quick. If you're signing someone from Leeds then you know they will be fit."

A debut could come on Saturday when Swindon host Burton Albion in League One.

Stevens joined Leeds from Forest Green Rovers early in 2018 and made his debut almost a year later in a 2-1 defeat at Stoke City, as a second half substitute.

Last season he was given four first-team appearances, all off the bench, by Marcelo Bielsa.

Life at Leeds has not been plain sailing for Stevens, who was handed a six-game ban by the FA after a breach of betting regulations and was said to be struggling with homesickness and loneliness. Despite the relatively low level of his gambling activity, the game's authorities banned him from all involvement with the club and drew criticism from Elland Road chief Angus Kinnear.

But on the pitch, for the Under 23s at least, Stevens has shown glimpses of the skill that earned him a move from League Two to then-Championship Leeds and this season, against Wolves, showcased an ability to do the defensive work required of a wing-back in a new 3-5-2 system.

The Whites could yet send more of their young players out on loan. Robbie Gotts has already come close to a temporary move this summer and is one player for whom a loan is still being considered, Alfie McCalmont is another.
