Have your say

Leeds United legend Brendan Ormsby answers your questions.

Hi Brendan, with this season basically all over, all the talk now is of optimism for next year. Is next season finally going to be our turn to go up?

Daz, Leeds.

If I could predict that, Daz, then I would be going out tonight to do my lottery numbers!

Hopefully we will go up, but all I can say is that at least it should be a better season than this one.

The chairman Ken Bates went to the trouble of bringing Neil Warnock into the club and hopefully it works and they can reach an agreement, a partnership and a deal over what Neil needs and what he wants.

Whether the chairman will give him it or not time will tell – we’ll see what business is done this summer – but Neil’s already said he needs a clear out.

He knows he needs to bring in some new players, not necessarily the same amount of players as we have got now, but quality players.

He also needs one or two experienced players who have really been around a bit to help us get out of this situation.

I just hope we have a better season than this one! It’s not been great and we’ve had some bad defeats. We’ve also, once again, had a lot of loan players that only come in for a few months and I think he needs to address that and get players coming in on proper contracts who are going to give something back to the club.

Neil has got the ultimate track record – he’s been in the game for a very, very long time and he has seen promotions and relegation as well.

He knows both experiences and he’s been through it all, whereas the players he has been working with this season a lot of them haven’t had those experiences.

A lot of them, as footballers, are babies. They haven’t had the experiences that a lot of footballers have – promotions and relegations and they don’t know what it’s like.

But Neil has got that experience, he will bring the players on and I think he’s as good as anyone we could have got because of the amount of times he has been through it.

At the moment, I think he’s just as good as any candidate to get us up. But it just depends on the players and it’s all about whether he’s able to get the right players in.

I always say it but even though we are not going to go up this season, and we are not going to make the play-offs, I still think Leeds United is the biggest club in the Championship football-wise – even if we have been in it for two seasons.

But that means I probably expect too much of the team in that I expect us to win, especially our home games, because we are Leeds United.

But we just haven’t been good enough this season and in the close season we need to get rid of a lot of players and bring in some quality players.

The support we are getting – even now – is stupid really. We are still getting lots of fans in and we should be in the Premiership.

The club really is blessed with a fanbase all around the world and in the Premiership is where they need to be. Hopefully we can bring in some quality players over the summer who can get us there.
