David Phillips is a fairly inexperienced official by Football League standards, with only three full seasons behind him.

He has refereed Leeds once before during a League One victory at Colchester United in 2009, but this is his first experience of handling a match at Elland Road.

Phillips’ record this season shows eight red cards and 93 yellows in 31 games. His last sending off came on December 17.
